ST. ROCH // RESILIENT ECOLOGICAL FOUNDATION

Resilient Ecological Foundation

The primary goal of the design exploration will be to develop a spatial strategy that promotes ecological adaption and renewal by retrofitting existing urban infrastructure to include physical processes such as water flow. Reimaging the way urban environments have been built provides a unique and important opportunity to build relationships between humans and their environment. Retrofitting urban environments with adaptive strategies that accommodate dynamic fluctuation is essential to creating safer living environments that can help mitigate dynamic fluctuations caused by climate change. Incorporated in the resilient ecological foundation will be the development of adaptive environments, the fostering functional trait diversity and incorporating in situ performance experiments.
